2008 JTT Winter League

This is a reminder about registration for the winter league: the details are below. Please send in your applications asap- time is of the essence.

The form can also be found on our winter website www.delawarejuniorteamtennis.net/winter Our other website www.delawarejuniorteamtennis.net has a link to this website

I apologize to anyone who sent me an email and have not received a reply but perhaps the following may answer some questions

a.There are no practice sessions due to cost and court availability

b. It is Delaware Junior Team Tennis’s decision as to what level players are assigned – we realize that many players aspire to the Roland Garros level but that level, particularly for boys, is very high.

We have finalized the details for the Winter League. It will run for 6 weeks starting Sat Jan 5th until Feb 9th – with Feb 16th as a snow date for Dupont and Penn Oaks. Hockessin will run Jan 5th, 12th, 26th Feb 2nd 9th 16th with a snow date of March 1st.

The sites and times are as follows

Roland Garros Advanced Level Dupont Country Club 6.30 – 8. 30 pm

US Open Advanced Intermediate Penn Oaks 4-7pm (first match4-5.30 second match 5.30-7)

Wimbledon Intermediate Hockessin Indoor Tennis 5.30-7.30pm

Also note that if we do not get enough Wimbledon participants we may have 2 US Open Leagues – one at Hockessin Indoor Tennis, one at Penn Oaks.

Please note that it is our decision where players play. At this stage you must be prepared to go to whichever site we assign.

The cost is $110. This is less than last year! This is below our cost and the reason we can do this is because of a grant we received this year. Apart from the tennis this includes the T shirt, trophy and end of season Banquet. We realize that this is much higher than the Fall but we have to pay for the indoor courts which are very expensive. For this reason there will be no refunds. Also we must have the fee with the application or we will not process the application.

Because the safety of our players is of paramount importance, we may also cancel a session if we believe the weather is too dangerous even though the tennis club may stay open – in that instance we will still have to pay for the courts and will not be able to refund money for that session. Please note that this has not happened so far. We do have 1 snow date in all 3 sites. Therefore if we are snowed off twice or more (gulp I do hope not!) there will only be ONE make up date.

There will be 4 teams per league so there is a maximum of 24 players per league. If we are oversubscribed and/or you cannot make a commitment to every week we will have a sub list.

Before Dec 10th, we will accept players in the following order:

1. Fall 2007 participants

2. Winter 2007 participants

3. All others

After Dec 10th, it will be based on the postmark on the envelope. However I recommend getting in applications asap – time is very limited.

Also please consider coaching!!

As always don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions.

I hope to be swamped with applications!!
