USTA League Tennis In Delaware
2011 USTA/Delaware District Winter Mixed Doubles League
Delaware's Mixed Doubles League will begin its 31st season on Friday, October 8, 2010 and run through mid-April, 2011.
Each team must have at least 6 players (3 men, 3 women).
Adult league teams (18 years and older by December 31, 2010) and Senior league teams (50 years and older by December 31, 2010) will be organized at the 6.0, 7.0, 8.0 and 9.0 levels.
The combined NTRP rating for the two players on a given court must not exceed the league level, nor may partners be more than 1.0 apart (Example: a 4.0 and 3.5 player may play together in the 8.0 league, but not in the 7.0 league).
Players not having a current NTRP rating will be asked to self-rate themselves when they register for a team. All players must have a USTA membership valid through April, 2011.
Matches will be scheduled by league coordinators to play on Friday evenings and Sunday afternoons at Brandywine Racquet Club, Elkton Indoor Tennis Club, Hockessin Indoor Tennis Club, Penn Oaks, private indoor clubs in the Delaware area, and Saturday evenings at Elkton Indoor Tennis Club.
Before a schedule is prepared, team captains will be asked to login and indicate their preferred home match locations and times on the Delaware District's unique Randolph Scheduler computer program.
A list of current team captains will be available on this web site under the “Northern DE USTA MXD League” header. Players interested in joining the league should contact the captains to see if they need players.
Any player that is interested forming a team and serving as a team captain should contact Kris and Melinda Nonnenmacher at Galleyware@verizon.net or 302-999-1148. The deadline for forming a team is 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
Players may be added to a team through March 1, 2011.
2011 USTA Delaware District Summer Adult, Senior and Super Senior Leagues
USTA Delaware District Summer League Tennis allows players to enjoy the camaraderie of team play and an opportunity to meet many new players throughout the Delaware area.
A reason for the appeal of USTA League tennis is that leagues are organized with players of the same level of ability. Winning teams have an opportunity to advance to District, Sectional and National Championships. League play runs from early April through August at outdoor sites throughout the Delaware, Maryland and Pennsylvania areas. Men’s and Women’s teams at 2.5 through 4.5 levels compete in Adult, Senior and Super Senior Divisions.
The Adult Division is open to players who will have reached the age of 18 years, and Senior and Super Senior Divisions for players who will have reached the ages of 50 and 60 years, respectively, by December 31, 2011.
Become a member of the USTA and you will automatically receive a notice each Spring inviting you to join more than 3,000 of your fellow Delaware area tennis players in the fun and excitement of league play!
